Underfloor Wheelset Lathes

HEGENSCHEIDT U2000-400 - Underfloor wheelset reprofiling up to 400kn axle load

Economical and high-precision machining of wheelsets, both for high-speed trains and for local trains in installed and removed condition, are the core competencies of our underfloor wheelset turning machines.  Thanks to the two different sizes 150 and 400, wheelsets with a running circle diameter of min. 350 mm and max. 1400 mm can be reprofiled. Naturally, the modern underfloor wheelset lathes meet all currently known working and precision requirements and their overall design is also geared towards future developments. As pioneers in wheelset reprofiling, our machines currently represent the highest standard in wheelset machining technology.

Application and use

The CNC-controlled U2000-400 is a universally applicable, dynamically rigid and particularly operator- and service-friendly underfloor wheelset turning machine for reprofiling wheelsets in mounted and dismounted condition for axle loads of up to 400kN. Wheel and shaft brake disks can also be processed on the machine.

The machine guarantees optimum cost-effectiveness thanks to its high degree of utilization, precision, long service life, and low maintenance costs. The compact machine layout and integrated control cabinet ensure a small footprint and user-friendly installation requirements.

Added value

  • State of the art reprofiling of tram and metro wheelsets, both mounted and demounted
  • Optimum cost-effectiveness thanks to high utilization rates, precision, long life, and low maintenance costs
  • Ergonomic and simple operation through a central control panel with direct access to all machine functions
  • Automatic processing to reduce the operator‘s workload and guarantee precision
  • Reliable protection against flying chips during machining
  • Simple chip disposal thanks to integrated chip removal plates
  • Long-lasting accuracy of the guideways for the supports
  • Environmentally friendly grease lubrication of the supports
  • Compact machine layout
  • Modular design enables subsequent data exchange with other systems or subsequent expansion of the machine

Function

The U2000-400 is suitable for turning the treads up to the crown of the wheel flange and the back of the wheel flange, reprofiling and partial reprofiling of wheelsets, machining the inner and outer wheel faces, reprofiling wheelsets single-sided, machining shaft brake disks and / or wheel brake disks and other options according to technical agreement.

The U2000-400 is operated via a central control panel, which provides optimum access to all machine functions in a suitable working position. At the same time, the operator is safely protected against flying chips during machining. The integrated automatic machining system relieves the operator and ensures simple control.

For simultaneous machining of wheelsets in bogies with mechanically uncoupled axles, a tandem version U2000-400D is also available.
