HEGENSCHEIDT U2000-150 - Underfloor wheelset reprofiling up to 180kN axle load

Economical and high-precision machining of wheelsets, both for high-speed trains and for local trains in installed and removed condition, are the core competencies of our underfloor wheelset turning machines. Thanks to the two different sizes 150 and 400, wheelsets with a running circle diameter of min. 350 mm and max. 1400 mm can be reprofiled. Naturally, the modern underfloor wheelset lathes meet all currently known working and precision requirements and their overall design is also geared towards future developments. As pioneers in wheelset reprofiling, our machines currently represent the highest standard in wheelset machining technology.

Application and use

The CNC-controlled U2000-150 is a universally usable, dynamically rigid and particularly operator- and service-friendly underfloor wheel lathe for reprofiling wheelsets in both mounted and dismounted condition for axle loads up to 180kN. HEGENSCHEIDT underfloor wheelset lathes are suitable for wheelsets of mainline railroads as well as for wheelsets of transport companies (streetcars, subway railroads).

For simultaneous machining of wheelsets in bogies with mechanically uncoupled axles, a tandem version U2000-150D is also available.

Function

The U2000-150 includes the reprofiling and partial reprofiling of wheelsets, the one-sided reprofiling of wheelsets, the machining of inner and outer wheel end faces, the machining of inner shaft brake discs and/or wheel brake discs and other options according to technical agreement. The machine is equipped with an automatic measuring system and guarantees high precision reprofiling that meets all known work and accuracy requirements.

The machine is operated from a central control panel so that the operator has constant access to all machine functions in the optimal working position. The operator is safely protected from flying chips during machining. The automatic processing system reduces the operator‘s workload and thus enables easy machine usage.

Success story with the Potsdam public transport company

We were guests at Verkehrsbetriebe Potsdam and took a look behind the scenes. The aim of our filming was to document the practical success story of the interaction of the newly developed and proven HEGENSCHEIDT wheelset maintenance modules. The following systems were applied: TWM - Total Wheelset Management Software as THE central element of modern wheelset maintenance, the ARGUS overrun measuring system for wheelset diagnostics and the U2000-150 underfloor wheelset lathe.
